Side effects in children may include: Appetite loss, constipation, cough, crying, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, ear infection, fatigue, headache, indigestion, influenza, irritability, mood swings, nausea, runny nose, skin inflammation, stomach pain, vomiting, and weight loss.
Side effects in adults may include: Stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, constipation, fatigue, loss of appetite, dry mouth, dizziness, trouble sleeping, menstrual cycle changes, or mood changes may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: decreased interest in sex, difficulty urinating, abnormal dreams, abnormal orgasms, appetite loss, chills, constipation, diminished sex drive (e.g. impotence), dizziness, dry mouth, ejaculation disorders, erection problems, fatigue or sluggishness, fever, headache, hot flushes, impotence, indigestion, insomnia, gas, menstrual problems, muscle pain, nausea, palpitations, prostate inflammation, sinusitis, skin inflammation, sleep disorder, sweating, tingling, urinary problems, weight loss, unusually fast heartbeat, severe headache, blurred vision.
Generic Strattera has very rarely caused very serious liver problems. If you notice any of the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, seek immediate medical attention: yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, severe stomach pain, "flu-like symptoms (e.g., fever, chills, unexplained fatigue). If you experience any of these symptoms ask your doctor about whether or not you should ever take Atomoxetine again. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Generic Strattera can sometimes speed up the heart and boost blood pressure. It needs to be used with caution if you have high blood pressure, a rapid heart rate, heart disease, or any other circulation problem. The medication should be discontinued if you develop signs of liver damage, including jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), dark urine, flu-like symptoms, and/or itchy spots. See your doctor at the first sign of these symptoms for testing and possible treatment options.
Sometimes a child that has ADHD and taking this medication can become increasingly aggressive or hostile. In this case contact your doctor immediately for proper evaluation.
Strattera is known to sometimes cause sluggishness: be careful when operating machinery or driving until you know how the drug affects you. Limit alcoholic beverages when taking this medication.
The elderly and children should be cautious when using this medication because they may be more sensitive to its side effects, especially dizziness, loss of appetite and weight loss. It is important to monitor weight and growth in children who are taking this drug. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
